Acclaimed textile artist and embroiderer, Ann Morgan and renowned painter, Pam Ibbotson, who works with gouache and oils, have been inspired to exhibit together by their shared passion for using the energy and beauty of the natural landscape as a catalyst for their creative expression.

The Rhythms of Nature exhibition combines Morgan's stunning textile pieces that capture the very soul of the sea and shorelines and Ibbotson's outstanding oil and gouache work, which is inspired by the dramatic landscape of the Dark Peak. This exhibition is the culmination of two years work for both artists and is a collection dedicated to an uplifting interpretation of the landscape and natural forms.

'Rhythms of Nature', to be held at the Upfront Gallery, Penrith from Friday 26th May 06 until Sunday 25th June 06.

Working with only natural fibres, including silk and dyed fleece, Morgan's contemporary approach to textiles sees her using different forms of felting.

Artist's statement:
"My current work is drawn from my response to landscape and natural forms.Click for Larger Image I endeavour to recreate its moods and energy through my own use of colour and texture in textiles and mixed media working primarily with natural fibres and found materials."

Pam Ibbotson:

Her work has been acclaimed by the Guardian where it was compared to 'Van Gogh's almost visionary sense of the underlying rhythms of nature'.

Artist's statement:
"My paintings gain their inspiration form the landscape of the Derbyshire Peak District. Click for Full ImageAlthough colours, textures and forms inherent in the landscape are an important factor, my work tends to be suggestive of natural form, rather than depictive. As such, it can be open to varying interpretation and so is, I feel, stimulating to the imagination. The landscape acts as a catalyst for the expression of what I have described as an 'inner painted world.'
